Parents in Partnership
- We always welcome feedback at Gan Kinneret – both positive and negative, so that we can monitor the service we provide. Please feel free to discuss or write comments on what we are providing whenever you feel prompted or requested to do so. This can be done via email, our suggestions box or complaints folder at the front of the nursery, or verbally.
- We encourage your child to experiment with a variety of materials and be creative. In doing this they may get messy – even though we insist on aprons! Please provide sensible clothing (nursery uniforms) for busy babies / toddlers / pre-schoolers and supply extra clothing in case of emergencies.
- We like to take children outside to play and investigate every day. Please supply children with hats, coats, gloves, umbrellas, wellies, sun cream etc. depending on the weather.
- We try to organise visits into the locality. We always advise you when this is planned and will ask for your consent for this to happen.
- We would ask any parents who have a specific skill, or vocation to come in and share these with the children.
- We will put on ‘evenings of interest’ for parents and will ask parents to attend whenever they can and tell us what they would like. These may be run by the nursery or the PTA but we ask all parents to show their support.
- Our admissions policy states that we accept all children once they have reached their first birthday, giving priority to siblings, those who are members of the synagogue and those living closest to the nursery.
- Please allow for settling in time. The length required for this depends on the individual child. We find this can involve at least three sessions. Please attend nursery with their child during this settling in time until he or she is happy to be left.
- Photographs may be taken occasionally during activities. Please give consent for your child to be included in the photographs, which may be displayed occasionally and kept in their files.
- To include parents in their children’s learning through Tapestry, the online system.
- We maintain a daily register to ensure times of arrival are noted. We sign each child in and out.
- Please collect your child on time. Any child collected after their arranged hours will be charged £5 per every 15 minutes they are late.
- If a child has not been collected on time, the nursery will wait 15 minutes before contacting the parent/carer. If they are unavailable, we will work our way down the contact list given on registration.
- Any arrangements made with staff members for babysitting, childcare etc. out of nursery hours, is done so at your own risk and the setting holds no responsibility.
- Please do not send your child into nursery wearing expensive jewellery, or with precious items. The staff cannot be held responsible for the loss or damage to these articles.
- · Please give us the names and telephone numbers of people we can contact in case of sickness or emergency and inform us of any changes. We will keep a contact register in case you are unavailable
- Parents are responsible for keeping these details up to date so please inform us of any changes to details held by the nursery, e.g. contact numbers.
- Please inform the nursery of any Special Educational needs or concerns in order for us to meet your child’s needs.
- We plan age-appropriate work for all children. We also plan a programme of activities to meet each child’s individual needs, based on recorded observation.
- Please share your child’s interests by talking with them about what they have been doing in the nursery. We will send you weekly newsletters telling you all about what we are doing at nursery, about the events and plans we have in mind for your children. Please read this and perhaps contribute comments / letters / articles.
- We will keep records of absence for each child. Absence due to illness, public holiday’s religious festivals or holiday’s will not be refunded or exchanged.
- Please let us know if your child will not be in that day by 9.30am.
- We are able to administer medicines prescribed by the doctor with written authorisation to do this. Clearly label with child’s name and dosage instructions.
- Please tell us of any significant happenings at home which may affect a child’s behaviour in the nursery.
- We work very closely with social care and have a legal duty to report any concerns we may have.
- We will only call you to collect your child from nursery if they are unwell, have a temperature or an infection, i.e. a stomach bug. We would ask you to collect them immediately in such circumstances.
- We will continue to track your child’s progress throughout their time at Gan Kinneret and use their records to assist with our planning. We would like you to tell us about your own observations and provide comments which can then be added to your child’s record.
